The community now known as Zirconia was not known by this name until 1890 when the Green River post office was re-named.
The section of the former Green River community now known as Zirconia contains two family cemeteries and three church cemeteries.
The most historic of these cemeteries is the Fortune-Kuykendall Cemetery containing the grave site of Revolutionary War veteran William Capps.
Zirconia Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1953. All graves within the cemetery date after 1953.
