Communities

In 2007, a series profiling the communities in Henderson County began in the Hendersonville Times-News. Only a few stories were written.
Plans are, in the next months, to complete the stories on the communities of Henderson County on this web site.
Resources used for the information on the communities was obtained from records at the Register of Deeds offices in Rutherford, Buncombe and Henderson counties; church minutes and records; “Postmarks” by Lenoir Ray; “A Partial History of Henderson County” by J.T. Fain; “From the Banks of the Oklawaha,” volumes I through III, by Frank FitzSimons; records in the State Archives in Raleigh and other libraries and archives; interviews; and other primary source documents.

For more detailed information on some families and persons who lived in the communities, and some churches, visit the “Historic Cemeteries” section of this web site.
